I am Margarita García Romero, a lecturer in the Department of Applied Linguistics to Science and Technology at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), where I teach Professional and Academic English at the Higher Technical School of Aeronautical and Space Engineering (ETSIAE-UPM). I hold a degree in English Philology, a PhD in English Linguistics, and a Postgraduate Certificate (DEA) in English Studies, Cognition and Interculturality from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM).

My research is grounded in Cognitive Linguistics and focuses on the sociocognitive dimensions of metaphor and on the relationship between language, culture, and cognition. I am particularly interested in the role of metaphor in scientific and technical language, as well as in the communication and popularisation of STEM disciplines. Through my research and publications, I aim to deepen understanding of the complex interplay among language, culture, and cognition and to promote effective communication in academic and professional contexts.
