Research

I study the use of the APPETIZING FOOD metaphor to conceptualize attraction in different languages.

This project is framed within Conceptual Metaphor Theory (Lakoff & Johnson, 1980) and in its extended version (Kövecses 2020). We approach metaphor as a cognitive process by which we construct knowledge and use in our interactions with the reality that surrounds us. As a framing device (Romano, 2024), metaphors reflect the way speakers construe different sociocultural matters.
